Pioneer deja de producir pantallas de plasma para reducir costes

Tokio. (EFE).- La compañía de electrónica japonesa Pioneer abandonará la producción de pantallas de plasma de televisión, por el descenso de las ventas, informa hoy el diario Asahi Shimbun.

Pioneer, el mayor fabricante de productos electrónicos de consumo, anunciará mañana de manera oficial su decisión en un intento de reducir costes.

Esa compañía pronostica que para el año fiscal 2007, que finaliza a finales de marzo, contabilizará unas pérdidas por operaciones de 17.500 millones de yenes (169 millones de dólares), con lo que ya serían tres años consecutivos de resultados negativos.

Pioneer, que en un pasado fue líder en la fabricación de pantallas de plasma e incluso adquirió las operaciones de plasma de NEC, dejará el mercado libre a sus rivales Hitachi y Matsushita, aunque subcontratará las que produzca esta última para venderlas.

Pioneer, que tiene tres fábricas que producen pantallas de plasma, suspenderá la actividad de su planta en Izumi (provincia de Kagoshima), mientras las que tiene Chuo (provincia de Yamanashi) y Fukuroi (provincia de Shizuoka) sólo se dedicarán a televisores.
